Kids Create Hollywood at SCM

This video highlights my final kids art project in 2020 before the pandemic shutdown. The children of SCM - Summerhill Community Ministries brought to life their very own Hollywood through the design and creation of their own puppets, story writing, set design,  movie production, red carpet experience and movie premier. And we didn’t stop there!! We also created our own SCM Film Awards Ceremony!!

This video represents just a snapshot of a great intermission to my lifetime commitment and contribution to mentor children and help guide them on the path of creating positive and lasting change. I Believe children are More Active in Purpose when they Discover their Own Great Abilities.

Summerhill Community Ministries is a community-based, indigenously-led Christian organization where I had only recently began to volunteer in 2019. Their focus is reaching inner-city youth in and around Atlanta’s Summerhill area. Through spreading the wisdom and love of Christ through their enrichment programs, SCM is able to provide opportunities for personal empowerment, spiritual love, and academic enrichment. They’re on a mission to uplift our community!

Serving SCM was a no brainer. It had to be done!! For me to thrive and achieve my lifetime goals, I must serve children through a methodology that I call R.E.A.C.H. Relationships - Education - Arts - Community - Hope. You can add Healing & Help if you want to REACH bigger and better.  Just know that with persistent REACH in our children’s lives, the possibilities are endless.

Since we know, and in many cases have experienced for ourselves, the adversity, difficulty and struggle that is persistent in children’s lives, we must position ourselves to disrupt and change the mechanisms in the weapons used against them. We know that many children have weapons of warfare (poverty is weapon) surrounding them daily and we have to change how we arm our children for battle. Become a primer in their lives. In firearms, the primer is the agent or device responsible for initiating the propellant that creates the thrust needed to activate energy. The question is: as parents, educators, community, social media, political and spiritual leaders... How are you activating energy in children’s lives?
